Purposes: Skin-Conditioning Agent , Antioxidant
A small nitrogen containing monosaccharide that is produced via the metabolism of microorganisms. Plays many physiological roles in the cell. Due to its relatively smaller size, it is believed to absorb into the skin relatively efficiently. It is found in connective tissue and promotes hydration of the skin by stimulating hyaluronic acid synthesis. Acetyl Glucosamine additionally provides benefits by functioning as a natural exfoliant, skin-whitener and free-radical scavenger. It is typically used in products at concentrations between 0.5%-2%.
