Azelaic Acid is a saturated dicarboxylic acid commonly sourced from natural ingredients such as grain. It also comes from a yeast that lives on our skin. Bacteria metabolize Nonanoic Acid into Azelaic Acid. It has been shown to reduce discoloration, redness and skin blemishes. It reduces acne by reducing the growth of bacteria in hair follicles. Some of the principal reasons for using this acid in skin care include its Anti-bacterial, skin-cell reproductive regulation, anti-inflammatory and skin-lightening effects.
