Diglucosyl Gallic Acid

Diglucosyl Gallic Acid

INCI Name: Diglucosyl Gallic Acid

Purposes: Hair-Conditioning Agent

This compound is produced biotechnologically, and is activated by the large number of microorganisms that live symbiotically on the skin's surface. It acts as a skin-brightener, anti-inflammatory and photo protectant.

Once on the skin, it is partially converted by the skin microbiome to trihydroxybenzoic acid, a natural tyrosinase inhibitor. Tyrosinase is a copper-containing enzyme that catalyzed the chemical transformation of phenols and polyphenols to quinones, such as the formation of melanin from tyrosine.

The manufacturer of the material published a double-blind research study that suggests the material controls skin tone, brightness, yellowness and redness.
