Purposes: Emollient , Skin-Conditioning Agent

Diheptyl succinate is a natural silicone alternative. Silicones are generally used for their emollience properties, that is, how they sit and feel on the skin. When combined in various ratios with capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid copolymer, formulations can take on a light, cyclomethicone-type feel, as well as the more viscous dimethicone-type feel.

Another benefit of this combination is that they can reduce the greasiness experienced when natural oils are used in formulations.
