Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring ingredient belonging to the class of acids known as Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or AHAs. It is often incorporated into formulations to promote exfoliation and texturizing benefits. Additionally, it has been shown to promote the synthesis of collagen in the skin, reduce hyperpigmentation, and is typically used in the 4-20% range.
