Purposes: Emollient , Skin-Conditioning Agent
Hydrogenated vegetable oil is produced by catalytically adding hydrogen to vegetable oil. It converts liquid vegetable oils to solid or semi-solid fats, like those in margarine. These oils reduce the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier. Sometimes vegetable oil is used as a hair-conditioning agent or to increase the thickness of the oil portion of formulations.
